Florida Gives Pearson an 'F' for Delays Plaguing State Tests

Article from Education Week, pg. 10, June 16, 2010

This article tells about how Pearson and Pearson subcontractors are having issues getting reliable data results and test scores.

"To date, the company, NCS Pearson, has delayed releasing some student scores on the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Tests, or FCATs, by more than six weeks. Now, a top state education official says the state will not release the bulk of the scores until the end of June—a full month later than in years past.

Local school administrators say the delays will make it difficult to prepare for the upcoming school year. Schools rely on the data to make staffing decisions."

Thought it was interesting seeing as how much emphasis the educational field is putting on assessment when the institutions we are using to make these assessments are flawed.
